1. Scout organizations are from England
The Scout Organization was spearheaded by a British soldier named Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell. Through his book entitled Scouting for Boys, Baden-Powell wrote his experience while camping on Brownsea Island with his neighboring children in August 1907. The book that tells about camping trips is considered the beginning of the organization and activities of Scouts or scouts around the world.

2. Indonesia knows Scouts from the Netherlands
In Indonesia, Scouting activities were first introduced by the Dutch in the Dutch colonial period in Indonesia. At this time, the scouting activity was named Padvinder which was spread in several regions. Padvinder organizations are divided into several regions including Javasche Padvinderij Organisatie or JPO, NATIPIJ, and NIPV. In further developments, the name of the organization changed to Pandu.

However, the word Pramuka was first introduced by Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono IX in the 1950s. In this first Jamboree Baden-Powell was inaugurated as a pioneer of scouting activities in the world, or held the title of Father of World Scouts.

6. Indonesia has the most Scout participants in the world

Indonesia is the country with the largest number of scout organization participants in the world. Indonesian Scout Members in 2010 reached 17 million, or around 7.2% of the total participants in scouting activities in the world. The country with the second largest Scout participant is the USA with 7.5 million participants and India with 4 million participants.

7. More than 200 countries have Scouts

The number of countries in the world that have activities such as Scouts is around 216 countries. In 2010, the total number of Scout members registered in the world reached 32 million and in 2006, there were 10 million registered Scout Builders in the world. Among all countries in the world, there are only 5 countries that do not have Scout activities, namely North Korea, China, Laos, Cuba and Andora.

8. Films about Scouts

Films that tell about Scouts include Up from Pixar, an animated film that is inspiring with the main character of a boy who is a member of Scouts with very high spirits. In addition, in 2011, Indonesia released a film about Scouts entitled Lima Elang, directed by Rudi Soedjarwo.

9. Scout Promises

Every Scout participant inaugurated in the world must have made a Scout Oath or Promise. At present there have been at least 500,000 Scout participants in the world who have made the Scout Promise since the beginning of Scouting in the early 20th century. In Indonesia this promise is called Tri Satya Pramuka. In addition, Indonesian Scouts recognize 10 rules that must be fulfilled, which are called Dasa Dharma Pramuka.

10. Scout uniforms in the world

Generally Scout uniforms in the world are quite identical to each other. In general, uniforms for Scout activities are in the form of shirts with ties or referrals. Scout uniform colors generally refer to natural colors, with the dominance of brown. In Indonesia, Scout uniforms are light brown and dark brown, which symbolizes elements of water and soil.
